Shamarukh Mohiuddin is the Director of the Economic Empowerment Program at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center. She helps global businesses harness their efforts to promote economic empowerment in under-served communities globally and in the United States. The program catalyzes cross-sector partnerships and equips businesses to be drivers and advocates for inclusive and sustainable growth. It includes a special focus on business’s role in promoting women’s economic empowerment through helping them overcome barriers to economic independence, entrepreneurship and leadership through access to skills, education, finance, technology and health services.

Previously, Shamarukh had a career in trade policy and corporate social responsibility.   Shamarukh has written a number of editorials, policy reports, a journal article, and spoken at numerous public events. She has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Voice of America, The Nation, Baltimore Post Examiner, Inside U.S. Trade and international dailies.

She holds an M.A. in International Relations and South Asia Studies from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and B.A. and B.S. degrees in International Affairs and Financial Economics from the University of Maine. Shamarukh speaks English, Bengali, basic Hindi and French.
